My wife and I both tried our hands writing and tweaking the ads, and did sell some. But we put it to the side as we couldn't afford to lose money while experimenting. So then I have to fast forward about a year and a half.
My wife then brought home a book -- Moonlighting on the internet by Yanik Silver. That put some ideas back in both our heads. My wife is selling household items on eBay and writing an e-book. I am trying my hand at Internet Marketing again.
I'm not sure how I stumbled into the Acme Search Engine -- I think it was a right hand side Google ad that I surfed my way into one night looking into various affiliate programs. I wandered on through and signed up. Reading Tissa's own case history sounded reasonable, and it looked like a relatively turnkey operation. So I bought a domain name, signed up for a year of hosting and created another Clickbank account (along with a couple of other affiliate accounts that Tissa recommended).
Here's what I have so far:
- A domain name with a very vanilla landing page (http://www.easypeopletrack.com)
- A month's subscription for Wealthy Affiliate University (more on this below)
- Membership in the Global Domains International Affiliate program
First step, dedicate some time to this project and treat it like a project. I signed up but haven't really applied myself yet. And my first month of service is running out quickly.
Second step, generate traffic. I still have to get AdWords working. Google stopped my ad campaigns, and said that the landing page needs work. Looking at landing pages for other successful Acme People Search sites, Google appears to be correct.
Third, work through the courses at Wealthy Affiliate University. I signed up for it after a couple of weeks -- I wasn't going to at first. But I wasn't generating any traffic into my "niche" site, so I had to be doing something wrong, and took the dive. Well a limited dive as I am paying for that month-to-month (I have to generate some income first).
That site is packed! There is so much information, training courses, networking and support at Wealthy Affiliates that I feel I can't fail as long as I have my membership there.
That's it for now. I'll chronicle my steps as I go forward.
