OK, so I spent some time today thinking about my internet marketing efforts (between Sean basically following behind my every move -- does the pool really open later this month and will he still be as happy swimming this summer as he was last summer?), and came up with one idea for trying to get Google to run my ads for the people search tool. I will have to work up another blog as a "new" landing page, then turn the PPC (pay-per-click) traffic to the blog or alternate landing page. Let's hope that adding another layer of indirection won't deter people from signing up or at least performing a courtesy search and getting my numbers up.
So now the task at hand is to write up some landing page copy. I'll have a different blog entry for that (more details to come) but hope to have it up at some point tomorrow. Now I know why Ellen wanted me to take the time off from the day job to get this set up.
On a more positive note, I decided to do some research about Acme People Search and Tissa Godavitarme, the creator of the site. I have to admit that I had the thought "scam" going through the back of my mind. With the internet being such an awesome research tool, I started with a few simple searches and clicks (actually started this on Saturday). Research revealed "Not A Scam", so I looked to move forward.
Tissa has webinars a few times a week to handle the support issues that invariably come up. So, bucking my general aversion to asking for help, I thought I'd dial in. I had seen other Acme People Search sites advertised through AdWords/PPC, so I still was puzzled why Google wasn't showing my ads. The term that Tissa used was "Google Slapped" -- Google wasn't showing my ads due to a low Quality Setting. He did have a few suggestions, all of them good.
The first -- create a blog or another landing page (well I had thought of that already, see the top paragraph)
The second -- change the name of my domain (it might not be relevant enough to the material that I'm advertising for)
The third -- continue to take courses at Wealthy Affiliates.
I think all three are in order, although I will work on #1 and #3 and hold off on a change in the domain name (not sure if I have to do that yet).
But, just as important, I really think that the Acme People Search is a legitimate operation. If you are looking to generate some extra income/revenue, click here to read up on it. It's a three step program (Affiliatize-Monetize-Advertise) that, barring a Google Slap :-), can either give you a little extra income or perhaps give you the change in career that you may want or need.
Anyhow, those are today's events. I have to make tomorrow really work for me, since I'm back to the full time career on Tuesday. Hopefully I'll have good news to report on the Google Slap.
Vacation's almost over!
